A blog post and pictures do not do this exhibit justice, so I am just going to say up front that if you’re interested in space, this is an exhibit that you should totally go and see.
Running at the Singapore Science Centre since October 2024, Space Explorers – The Infinite takes you through an immersive experience of what it’s like to be on the International Space Station (ISS). When you enter, you will be given an Immersive VR Headset with integrated headphones that you wear, and follow instructions from a virtual avatar (a floating figure with a green orb). You’ll be able to walk into a dedicated space to experience what it’s like to live aboard the ISS, and hover above Earth which will be rotating beneath your feet.
If you’re visiting with companions, they will appear in the VR world as avatars with yellow orbs, while other visitors will appear as avatars with blue orbs, and staff appear as avatars with green orbs.
While in the VR world, you’ll be able to pick up objects and thrown them around, or interact with interfaces to trigger specific experiences.
At the end of the experience, you’ll be seated in a chair to experience a space walk.
Our visit here lasted about an hour, and was a great way to spend an afternoon. Definitely recommended for families with children (9 years and above), and for adults who are still curious.
Tickets can be purchased from Fever or on site. (Use the code KARENC91038 for a $7 discount off your first purchase).
This exhibit ends on March 25 2025.
